Dear PS 90 Parents/Guardians,
We hope this letter finds you well and filled with excitement as we welcome our students back to school for another enriching academic year! As the summer vacation came to a close, we eagerly looked forward to reuniting with our beloved students and continuing our journey of learning and growth together.
At PS 90, we believe in providing a holistic education that goes beyond academics. Our school motto, "School with a Heart," encapsulates our commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to embrace the values of High Expectations, Advocacy, Respect, and Teamwork. These core values guide us in our efforts to create well-rounded individuals who not only excel academically but also become compassionate and responsible members of society.
We are committed to providing your child with a high-quality education that fosters both academic excellence and a love for learning. Our dedicated teaching staff has been working diligently to create engaging and effective lesson plans that cater to various learning styles. We will continue to challenge and support our students to reach their full potential and achieve their academic goals. In addition, the safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority. We will closely monitor and adapt to any changes to the NYC Public School's health policies.
Recognizing the importance of social-emotional well-being, we have integrated positive behavior interventions and supports into our daily routines to nurture the emotional growth of our students. We understand that a positive and supportive school environment plays a crucial role in their development. Our counselors and teachers will be available to provide guidance, and we encourage open communication between parents, students, and staff to ensure that every child feels heard and valued.
We are excited to invite you to our virtual Meet the Teacher event on September 14, 2023, at 4:30 pm. This event provides an opportunity for you and your child to learn about the curriculum and classroom expectations, and ask any questions you may have. The event will include individual classroom sessions at 4:30 pm, followed by a school-wide meeting at 7:00 pm where important school-wide information will be shared.
Additionally, we believe in the power of strong parent-teacher partnerships, and we encourage you to actively participate in our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). The PTA plays a vital role in enhancing the educational experience of our students by organizing events, fundraisers, and initiatives that directly benefit our school community. By being an active PTA member, you will have the opportunity to be actively involved in shaping your child's school experience and contributing to the overall success of our school. Your partnership and feedback is invaluable to us. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
In closing, we are excited to welcome your child back to PS 90 and embark on another year of growth, discovery, and achievement. Together, we can create a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where each child can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. We look forward to a wonderful school year ahead!
Warm regards,
Candra Sutherland, Principal
